Finding the perfect place to eat with teenagers can be a challenge, but Birmingham has some amazing and fun restaurants which makes the task a little easier.

In our list, we really do have a restaurant for everyone. Whether your teen loves pizza, Tex-Mex, Indian food or Chinese – or, like my teenage boys, prefers burgers, Sunday roasts, pancakes and ice cream – Birmingham has you covered.

With restaurants where teens can dine on swings, in a forest, or enjoy listening to some cool tunes while they eat – it’s not hard to find somewhere with the fun factor.

Whether you’re visiting Birmingham for a few days, celebrating a teen birthday, or just looking for a great cafe for lunch – this article highlights the best places for an unforgettable meal out with teens in this brilliant city.

Located in the Jewellry Quarter, The Rolling Mill  is top-rated on TripAdvisor and Google – and for good reason. The menu is full with teen-friendly favourites, from juicy burgers to crispy chicken wings. But what really steals the show? The Sunday lunches. They get rave reviews, and the pizza here are legendary too.

From the outside, it looks unassuming, but step inside and you’re in an open-plan, industrial-chic space with a trendy but relaxed atmosphere.

Is your teen is impressed with quirky decor? Then check out Restaurant at The Woods.  Located on Level 3 of The Mailbox, you get to dine in a forest-like atmosphere. Think towering trees, a birdcage, a treehouse, and nature-inspired decor that changes with the seasons.

Food-wise, it’s got all the classics – burgers, nachos, and salads – plus plenty of Insta-worthy backdrops to snap some pics.

Teens and pizza go hand in hand, and Rudy’s Pizzeria is one of the best in town. Freshly made, big, and absolutely delicious – you won’t be leaving hungry.

The restaurant is relaxed and friendly making it ideal for families as well as perfect for a casual bite or a birthday treat. Fancy a night in? They do takeout too.

There are two restaurants in the city, at Bennett’s Hill and Brindley Place.

For Indian street food with a side of fun, Mowgli at Grand Central is a winner. The twinkling fairy lights and swing seats make it a hit, and the food is just as exciting.

Chat bombs, Temple Dahl (a red lentil dish simmered with toasted cumin, coriander, and lemon), and Mowgli Slaw (a colorful mix of shredded red cabbage with a popped mustard seed dressing.) are just some of the standouts.

There’s Vegan, gluten-free, and halal options too.

If your teen loves a place that’s as much about the aesthetic as the food, Tattu, Birmingham is the one. With its breathtaking cherry blossom tree and stylish decor, it’s seriously impressive.

It’s fine dining, so expect top-tier Chinese cuisine. Ideal for celebrating a big birthday or special occasion.

Got a younger teen who loves a themed café? Primark’s Disney café is a fun spot for novelty food and a break from shopping.

The theme changes throughout the year. At Christmas, it becomes Grinch themed cafe with special menu featuring green waffles, “Holiday Cheer” waffles with ice cream and popping candy, and “Strawberry Cindy-Lou Who” milkshakes. There’s also toasties and milkshakes. Check the menu out here.

During the rest of the year, there’s Mickey waffles and luxury shakes.

Probably not worth a special trip, but a fun pit stop if you’re nearby.

Gorgeous decor, fantastic service, and a menu with a wide variety of cuisine make The Ivy on Temple Row a safe bet. It’s almost always busy so you know they’re doing something right. You can visit for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner.

Favourite dishes include Shepherd’s Pie, fish and chips. For the more adventurous, there are also options such as Monkfish Curry and Duck parfait. Teens with a sweet tooth will love the indulgent Chocolate Bomb dessert.

If you’re looking for a good place for breakfast or lunch with your teen, check out Grand Central Kitchen.

This independent cafe is located opposite New Street Station, making it a great place to stop before or after a train journey. It’s a popular place to eat with both locals and visitors, with attentive staff, great food and quick seating being some of the top reasons for visiting.

The menu has a full range for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Options include a full English breakfast, breakfast sandwiches, hot and cold paninis, ciabattas and wraps, pizzas, jacket potatoes, salads and more.

The Wilderness is an independent restaurant located in the Jewelry Quarter in Birmingham which serves modern European Cusine.

The first thing to say about The Wilderness is the reviews are excellent with diners raving about the quality of the food with some stating it’s the best meal they’ve ever had.

The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. Diners eat to a backdrop of some great music so perfect for teens who love some good tunes. The service is attentive too.

It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for. The perfect place for birthdays and other celebrations.

If you’re looking for somewhere with the fun factor, check out Ming Moon, located in Birmingham’s China town. It’s an all you can eat pan Asian buffett.

Expect a huge selection of Chinese and Asian dishes, freshly prepared by award-winning chefs. Oh, and did we mention the chocolate fountain?

One of its unique features is an open kitchen where diners can watch their food being cooked.

If you’re booking for a family teenage birthday or other occasion, you can also hire a private karoke room for extra fun!

Located in Edgbaston, just a mile from the city centre, La-Pop is an award-winning dessert café that’s perfect for teens who love sweet treats. Specialising in handcrafted gelato and ice lollies, La-Pop lets you customise your own lolly with a choice of dips, toppings, and drizzles—perfect for an Instagram-worthy snack!

The lollies are made with locally sourced organic milk, and the cheesecake lolly is a must-try. If you’re in the mood for something different, they also serve dipped strawberries, organic milkshakes, mocktails, and hot and cold drinks.

My teen boys both love pancakes and if you have a similar teenager with you, check out Cherry Reds cafe.

Cherry Reds is an independent and cosy cafe not far from New Street Station. Located in a Victorian building, teens will love the quirky decor with rescued furniture. It’s a friendly place and affordable too.

They offer a wide range of options on their menu including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoy an English breakfast, a fish finger sandwich or homemade soup before your pancakes. They cater well to various diets, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.

Pancake wise it’s probably one of the best cafes in Birmingham. There are both sweet and savory options or you can build your own.

Perios Brindleyplace is a Tex-Mex restaurant located at The Waters Edge in the hustle and bustle of Brindleyplace.

If your teen loves tacos, burritos, nachos and fajitas, this is the place to come. There’s also things like burgers and chicken wings on the menu

Perios is known for its lively atmosphere, with lively music colourful decor and beautiful murials.

They also offer special promotions like Taco Tuesday and with 50% off all tacos and special lunchtime menus, so check out the website before you go.

Prefer independent eateries to chains? Then check out Ju Ju’s Cafe.  This family-run restaurant, situated near Brindleyplace was established by Julia (known as Ju Ju) and her daughter Beatrice. Expect a warm, friendly welcome with excellent service and lovely canal views.

Ju Ju’s is  well known for it’s excellent breakfast, brunch and Sunday roasts but it’s good for lunch and dinner too.

They’re open Thursday from 5pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 10pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. The café is handily located near attractions like the Utilita Arena Birmingham, Symphony Hall, and The REP.
