My 13 year old son is football mad and he likes doing football related activities. In London, the top football-related activitiy he enjoyed the most was a visit to Toca Social (an interactive football activity in the O2 – read more below).

If interactive football isn’t your thing, there are a range of other football experiences you can do in the capital. From stadium tours, to watching a match, a kickabout to football museums – there is something for everyone.

Read on for lots of ideas!

For an experience you won’t forget, watching a live match should be top of the list.

Most fans have their sights set on watching a premier league match and while it’s possible to get tickets it can be pricey and challenging.

Ideally you’ll want to buy tickets via the premiership club. There are some resale sites but it can be risky using these as you can be sold a ticket which isn’t valid. There’s nothing worse then being at the stadium and being denied entry. Additionally if the game time changes or something else happens you might be left out of pocket. Clubs will provide details of any authorised ticket partners on their official website.

Becoming a member of a club will give you a higher priorty of being able to buy a ticket – although it doesn’t guarantee you’ll get one. If money is no object you can also buy hospitatlity packages to see a game. Hospitality packages often include a meal and other perks – however they are the most expensive way to watch a premier league team.

If you’re set on the idea of watching the Premier league you can find information here as to how to buy tickets for each club.

The current premiership teams in London include Arsenal, West Ham, Fulham, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford.

West Ham are often one of the easiest teams to get tickets for as their ground has a huge capacity. They will still sell out though, so try and get tickets as soon as they go on sale.

It’s much easier to get tickets for the lower leagues. There are plenty of championship clubs and also lower league clubs in London which will offer a different but unique experience. This season London championship teams include Queens Park Rangers, Watford and Millwall.  Tickets to championship games are much cheaper than the premier league.

For lower leagues check out Charlton Athletic and Leyton Orient in League One. There’s also AFC Wimbledon in League Two.

Another option is to get tickets for women’s football games. It’s easier to get tickets and you can still experience going to a Premier League stadium.

Toca Social is a new favourite with my teenage son and his friends. It involves hitting targets on a digital screen with a football.

The great thing is everybody can have a go, you don’t need to be any good at football to play.

Grab a bite to eat and drink while you play.

It’s a great indoor activity to do with with friends and family

Check out the website for Toca Social at the 02.

If you can’t get to a premiership game, the next best thing it to visit the ground on a stadium tour. Most are guided tours that take you through the press room, home and away dressing rooms, and the tunnel leading to the pitch.

There are plenty to visit in the capital. Here is a quick list:

Stamford Bridge – Visit Chelsea’s football ground – the experience includes entry to the Chelsea FC Museum,

Wembley Stadium– the home of English football. Take your picture in Europe’s largest press conference room, find the shirt of your favourite England player in the dressing rooms, and line up in the players tunnel before following in the footsteps of legends and walking out pitch-side.

Emirates Stadium -Arsenal’s home also includes entry into the Arsenal museum.

Tottenham Stadium – this is the newest football stadium you can visit officially opening in 2019.

Craven Cottage – Visit the home of Fulham FC, London’s original professional football club.

Selhurst Park – If you’re in south east London, hop on a tour of Crystal Palace’s home.

London Stadium – the home of West Ham United.

Gtech Community Stadium – visit the home of Brenford FC on selected dates.

Climb up a Football Stadium on the Dare Skywalk

Powered by GetYourGuide

The Dare Skywalk at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium offers a unique perspective on the world of football.

Enjoy a guided climb to the stadium’s roof and stop of the top for breathtaking  views.

Participants can test their nerve by venturing onto a glass walkway, suspended high above the pitch, and even attempt “The Edge,” a daring rope descent.

See the Spurs stadium from an entirely different angle! A must-do for adrenaline seekers and Spurs supporters alike.

Have a Kickabout at One of London’s Parks

There are plenty of green spaces and parks in London where you can set up a goal with some jumpers and have a kickabout with friends.

Regents Park, Hyde Park, Greenwich Park or Battersea Park are just three that have lots of green space.

If you want to organise a big game, Regents Park have football pitches you can hire too.

Fancy a game of football but have no friends? London also has you sorted. Head over footyaddicts.com. Put in the postcode of where you want to play and you’ll find lots of football games you can join.
