We are very fortunate in the West Midlands to have a number of brilliant ice skating rinks. Whether it’s in the historic backdrop of Birmingham’s Centenary Square or in Malvern, Warwick Castle or Tamworth, there’s a perfect place to skate for everyone.

Ice Skate Birmingham at Centenary Square
Birmingham, transforms into a winter wonderland during the Christmas season with the Frankfurt German market, a 40m big wheel and Ice Skate Birmingham.
Skate in front of the city’s iconic architecture, including the Library of Birmingham and the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. It’s a fantastic rink for all ages. Even young kids can get in on the action thanks to penguin ice skating aids and sit-on polar bears.
Festive lights and great views make it a magical spot ot get into the Christmas spirit.
On top of this, the ice rink has a roof to protect you from any rain or snow. It’s also wheelchair friendly – you are able to get onto the ice in a wheel chair.
Finish your ice skating session in style with refreshments at the ice lounge and bar.
Ice Skate at Warwick Castle
Glide across the ice beneath the backdrop of Warwich Castle’s east front for a Christmas outing you won’t forget.
As well as ice skating you can buy tickets that include entry to the castle, a light trail and a visit to Santa. Whatever you choose to do, it’s a magical Christmas experience you won’t forget.

Go Safari Skating
West Midland Safari Park have an ice skating alternative called a “Glice Rink”. The Glice rink is an eco-friendly alternative to ice skating as it doesn’t need any water or energy.
Practice your skating skills on the glice rink from the end of November through to the first week of January 2024.
Visitors to the safari park can also get the change to see Santa is his grotto.

Winter Funland at the NEC, Birmingham
The Winter Funland event takes place at the NEC between 8th December and 1st January
There is plenty going on including an indoor fair, circus show, Santa’s Grotto and of course ice skating.
Tickets can be purchased for the whole event only. Adults must be accompanied by a child to gain entry.

Skate at Winter Glow, Malvern
If you’re looking for skating in Worcestershire, head to the Three Counties Showground in Malvern where skating is part of the Winter Glow event.
The skating rink is sheltered from the elements and decorated for Christmas. Your ice skating ticket includes free parking and free entry to the Christmas market.
The winter glow event also boasts an illuminated light trail, fairground, food quarter cafe and winter bar.

Visit and Indoor Ice Rink this Christmas
There are many outdoor Christmas ice rinks that pop up in and around December throughout the region.
The West Midlands is also lucky enough to have some amazing indoor ice skating rinks too. Here are a few to check out:
The SnowDome, Tamworth.
Here you’ll find an indoor ice skating rink where you can skate over the festive season and during the rest of the year.
If you want a Christmas themed experience for your kids, the SnowDome is also home to Santa’s Winter Wonderland. Young kids can visit Santa, experience the santa show and discover the delights of Santa’s animal village.
Older and more adventurous kids can have a go at indoor skiing too.

Planet Ice, Coventry and Solihull
Planet Ice have some fantasitc Christmas themed skating sessions throughout December. Kids can skate and meet Santa. They will receive a free gift, meet Santa and his elves and enjoy a story.
On Friday 8th December, there is also a Christmas jumper day.

Ice Quest, Malvern
If you want to ice skate in Malvern this Christmas, you are spoiled for choice. Not only is there the ice rink at the Winter Glow event, you can also visit Ice Quest Malvern for an indoor skating experience. As well as ice skating, it’s home to escape rooms and laser quest for extra fun.
Telford Ice Rink
Telford ice rink is another indoor skating rink you can visit all year round. There’s plenty of bookable sessions over the Christmas period which include general skating, disco nights, skating for tots. family skating sessions and adults only.
