Malvern is a picturesque town in Worcestershire, which is famous for the beautiful Malvern Hills.
But what is there to do with kids? As well as hiking up the hills (and there are some fantastic walks), there are many other activities and things to do which kids will love.
Whether you pick an active adventure like ice skating, a more traditional pastime like a visit to a park or get creative with pottery, there are plenty of brilliant things to do to keep kids entertained.
Walk on the Malvern Hills
There are many walks to try with kids on the Malvern Hills. A good one for children is to start the walk from British Camp. You’re already quite high and you can head off in a range of directions, getting up to some great views quickly.
Another idea is to climb the Worcestershire Beacon from the Wyche. Not too steep a climb! Park at The Wyche and walk the relatively gentle slope to the Beacon.
Fly a Kite and Have a Picnic
The Malvern Hills is a great place for flying kites, so don’t forget to bring one for the kids. And why not bring a flask of tea and a picnic to enjoy at the top?
Visit St. Ann’s Well
St. Ann’s Well is a natural spring half-way up the Malvern Hills where you can grab a bite to eat. St Ann’s Well Cafe is a traditional and popular cafe located by the well. Opening times vary so check the website before you go. They make gorgeous cakes! The cafe is small and there are a few seats inside and lots of seats outside. They also make a selection of filled baguettes and a soup of the day. You can park in the town centre and walk up from there. It’s about a 10 to 15 minute walk.
Watch a Play at the Theatre
Malvern Theatre is home to both cinema and theatre. Watch a film or see a show. Events range from musicals, plays, comedy and panto. There is a cafe at the theatre for cups of tea and refreshments.
Stake at Ice Quest
If your kids love ice skating, Malvern has it’s own rink at Ice Quest. Book online before you go.
Play Lazer Quest
Also based at Ice Quest is Lazer Quest. Experience a fast paced, fun filled game of Lazer Quest on a 2 floor arena where the European Championships of Lazer Quest once took place.
Escape Rooms with Older Kids
The Escape room, Clue HQ is also located at Malvern Ice Quest and ideal for a family experience. Can you solve the clues and escape from the room in the time given?
Ride the Slides at Malvern Splash
Malvern Splash is a fun place to take the kids swimming. At certain times you can ride the wave machine and enjoy the flume. Phone to check they’re flume and wave machine is running before you set off as they only use them at certain times.
Priory Park

Priory Park is a lovely green space with a swan pool which is located between Malvern Splash and the Malvern theatre. It’s a great place for a picnic!
Visit the Malvern Museum of Local History

The Malvern Museum of Local History is a little gem that is run by volunteers. and focuses on local history. It’s open during the summer months and there is a small charge of £2 to enter. This is a good choice for older kids who are interested in history.
Get Creative at Green Frog Pottery
Book a table at Green Frog Pottery and come and create. Activities for kids include pottery painting and mosaic activity kits. You can also buy kits for kids to try at home.
Hunt for a Geocache
With plenty of geocaches in and around the Malvern Hill, geocaching is a great activity to try if you’re in the area. Essentially geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunt for kids (and adults!). Register on the geocaching website and look for hidden containers nearby using a GPS enabled device. Most smartphones will be fine!
Malvern Hills GeoCentre
The GeoCentre is the official visitor information centre for the Geopark Way with a family friendly cafe. Kids will enjoy using the educational iPads at the centre. There’s also a large video wall which shows panoramas and videos of the region plus a small displays of fossils and rocks. In addition, the school-desk workstation has more kids activities. Occasionally there are family events such as roadshows or workshops at weekends, on topics like geology or archaeology.
Go to An Event at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern

The Three Counties Showground in Malvern has a number of events throughout the year many of which have activities which are aimed at kids. On 6th April 2023 they have Countrytastic. This day event is just for kids and allows them to discover the countryside.
Other events with kids activities include the Royal Three Counties show which has a number of activities aimed at children.
There’s also the Malvern Autumn show with plenty of family fun.
Malvern Treasure Trail
Try this fun detective mystery themed walking treasure trail around Great Malvern. It’s about 2 miles long and is a fun way to get kids walking and discover the local area. There’s clues to solve which kids will love helping out with along the way.
Parks and Playgrounds
West Malvern Playing Fields is lovely with a kids’ play area and some woods at the bottom to explore.
Victoria park in Malvern Link is another green space which is great for kids. The playing fields for kids to run around, tennis courts, football pitches and basketball courts
Things To Do With Kids Near Malvern
See the Animals at Clive’s Fruit Farm
Clive’s Fruit Farm, near Upton is a great place to while away a couple of hours with young kids. The family run fruit farm has a farm shop and cafe. Pick-your-own fruit, try out a play area and feed the pigs and chickens.
“Get Lost” In Great Worcester Maize Maze
During the summer months, enjoy getting lost at the Worcester Maize Maze in Powick, just outside Malvern.
There are three maizes which have a different theme each year, previous themes have included the Vikings! As you walk around, kids love answering the quiz questions. On site, find a cafe for refreshments and play activities and toys for younger kids.
Go to Eastnor Castle
Eastnor Castle is located at the foot of the Malvern Hills about a 15 to 20 minute drive from the centre of Great Malvern.
The beautiful castle and grounds are a must to look around. It’s a great place for families with an adventure playground, treetop walkway and maze.
A programme of events takes place throughout the year.
Visit Worcester
Worcester is a 25 minute drive from Malvern and there are tons of things to do in this fun and historic city including museums with activities for kids, parks and playgrounds.
