Visiting London in June? Be excited because June is a brilliant month to enjoy this wonderful city.

The weather is mild, the days are long (sunset is between 9.00pm to 9.45pm) and there is less chance of rain than in other months (although it can still rain – so bring an umbrella as well as your sunglasses!)

There are plenty of fantastic things to do in June. Hop on an open top bus or take a boat trip along the Thames. Take a bike ride, enjoy a picnic in one of London’s beautiful parks or join a walking tour of the city.

Take an Open Air Sightseeing Tour.

With warmer, drier weather more likely, there are many ways to take a sightseeing tour of the city while enjoying the fresh air.

Why not hop on the top deck of a double bus with London bus tours which offer open top buses to see all the major London landmarks? Alternatively take a sightseeing river cruise along The Thames or a walking tour of the city.

Walking tours are perfect for enjoying the warmer June weather. Some of them are even free – check out Free Tours by Foot (if you enjoyed the walk a donation is a good way to show your appreciation at the end of the tour). There are numerous other fun tours too. From Harry Potter-themed adventures to culinary explorations, there’s something for everyone. Use Google to get limitless ideas. For a thrilling twist, why not embark on a ghost walk?”

Enjoy a Concert at Hampton Court Palace (and visit the Palace and Gardens)

Hampton Court Palace situated on the outskirts of London  is a beautiful place to visit in the summer. Get the train from London Waterloo to Hampton Court Palace (about a 45 minute journey). See Henry VIII’s great hall and visit the Tudor kitchens at this historic Royal Palace. In June, the 60 acres grounds are in full summer glory and kids will love the gem of a playground.

Between 11th and 25th June 25, Hampton Court is hosting a series of summer concerts. The line up includes icon Tom Jones and other amazing artists with Sam Ryder, Bjorn Again, Sheryl Crow, Deacon Blue, Paloma Faith and Jessie J all in attendance.

The Horrible History, Terrible Thames Tours are boat rides on the River Thames which are popular with families with kids.

Climb aboard to hear the horrible history surrounding the River Thames. See the sites along the river and learn fun, educational facts.

Ideal for the whole family – even the oldies will probably learn stuff they didn’t already know.

Alternatively, Jump On a Speedboat Tour (or other kind of boat trip)

There are plenty of other river tours you can take along The Thames. Top ideas include the RIB speedboat tours – for those who like their sightseeing topped with some adrenaline.

If you prefer something more leisurely take a boat trip with afternoon tea. 

Those on a budget may want to take the Thames Clipper (a commuter boat – there’s no commentary but it costs less!)

Take the Cloud Cable Car

The Cloud cable car offers spectacular views of the south east side city (towards Canary Wharf). It’s a great way to see London from a different perspective. The ride lasts for around 10 minutes and is fairly inexpenisve compared to other attractions. 

Head to Canary Wharf for a free game of mini golf. The vibrant course is designed by artists Craig and Karl, The course is open between 12pm and 6pm and is great for all ages. 

Make a day of it and try some other attractions in the area. The Museum of Docklands is excellent and free. 

Visit the Tower of London

The Tower of London is steeped in history, serving many purposes in the past including a royal palace, prison, treasury, and fortress.

Take a tour with a Beefeater which is both entertaining and informative. Tours begin near the main entrance to the Tower of London and take place every 30 minutes. If you are a interested in the history of the Royal family, it’s a must.

The Meltdown Festival is an annual music festival held in London, hosted at the Southbank Centre. Each year a different artist selects the lineup of performers and shapes the festival’s theme and direction.

Explore London’s Amazing Parks

June month to visit one of London’s beautiful Royal parks. Here is a quick round up of where to go and what’s on.

Hyde Park – Perhaps the most famous of all the Royal Parks, Hyde Park covers a vast area of central London. If it’s a warm day, dip your feet in the Diana Memorial playground which is located in Hyde Park. It also features the Serpentine Lake, where visitors can enjoy boating in June.

Events in June include the Hidden Stories of Hyde Park walking tour. Music fans will love the fabulous BST Hyde Park which takes place from 29th June and goes on into July. This year artists include Kings of Leon, Robbie Williams and Shania Twain among many others.

Greenwich Park –  Greenwich Park is also home to the Royal Observatory where the Prime Meridian Line, dividing the eastern and western hemispheres of the Earth, is marked. Enjoy brilliant views of the River Thames and the Canary Wharf skyline from the top of the hill in the park. 

There’s also lots of places to picnic and a playground for the kids. Greenwich is a lovely part of London to visit with many museums and attractions in the area. Visit the Cutty Sark  and the The National Martime Museum.

Watch The Feeding of the Pelicans at St James’s Park

St James’s Park is located right next to Buckingham Palace. It’s lake is home to a variety of bird species including pelicans which are fed at 2pm on most days. There’s a playground for kids too. St James’s Park will be part of the royal event Trooping the Colour which takes place on 15th June

Regent’s Park, in Central London is a beautiful park to visit during June. It borders London zoo and sometimes you can see the animals when walking past. It’s also home to four playgrounds and a boating lake.

In June 2025, there are open air theatre performances. Book to see plays including Shucked and Noughts and Crosses.

Between 18th and 22nd June, Regent’s Park is home of the Taste of London festival, a must-visit event for food enthusiasts.

The festival brings together some of London’s top restaurants, chefs, and food artisan offering visitors the opportunity to sample a wide range of gourmet dishes and beverages.

Shakespeare’s Globe is an open air theatre and there is plenty of things to see here in June.  If you stand, the cheapest tickets only cost £5, so it’s a great place to see a play if you’re on a budget.

There’s plenty of other events happening at Shakespeare’s Globe too. Try a guided tour. There’s plenty to choose from including a family guided ghosts and gouls tour and a pride guided tour.

With clearer skies more likely (not guarenteed though), June is a great month to experience London from a vantage point and there are plenty of ways to do it.

Get a free ticket go to the Sky Garden – The Sky Garden in London is located at the top of the skyscraper nicknamed the “Walkie-Talkie” building due to its distinctive shape. Experience stunning views of London’s skyline, including iconic landmarks such as the Shard, the Gherkin, and the Thames River. Access to the Sky Garden is free of charge, but it’s essential to book tickets well in advance. There are also restaurants at the Sky Garden which you can also book.

The London Eye, the giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames, provides spectacular views of the city from its enclosed and spacious capsules. Enjoy a slow ride, giving you plenty of time to experience London’s skylines which includes sights such as the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The Tate Modern is well worth a visit for art enthusiasts. It’s one of the world’s most renowned contemporary art museums and it’s free to enter. It’s also free to visit the viewing gallery on the 10th floor. Enjoy views of London’s skyline, including the Thames River, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Shard, and Millennium Bridge.

The Monument was built to commemorate the Great Fire of London, which devastated much of the city in 1666. Climb the 366 steps of the Monument and enjoy amazing view at the top. It stands 61 metres high (202 feet) tall.

What to Wear in London In June

As the weather in London can be changeable, always check the forecast so you can be the best dressed and prepared.

Here are some top tips on what to wear:

Layers: Layers are the way to go to deal with unpreditable weather. Even it’s cool or wet outside, it can get very warm on the Tube. You’ll be thankful to be able to take layers off when you’re underground.

Lightweight Clothing: Breathable and lightweight clothing such as t-shirts, lightweight trousers/pants and shorts work well for warmer days and layering on cooler days.

Sweater or Light Jacket: Even in June, evenings in London can be cool, so it’s a good idea to carry a sweater or light jacket that you can throw on.

Waterproof Outerwear: Rain is always a possibility in London, even in June. Check the forecast and if showers are predicted, carry a waterproof jacket or coat and maybe an umbrella.

Comfortable Shoes: If you’re exploring London, wear comfortable shoes that you can walk in for extended periods.

Accessories: Don’t forget accessories like sunglasses, a hat or cap for sun protection, and a scarf that can double as a light wrap if it gets chilly.

Weather In June

June marks the transition from spring to summer in London with mild and warm weather. The average daytime temperature ranges from around 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F). However, temperatures can be higher, especially during heatwaves.

Expect long daylight hours. The sun rises early in the morning (as early as 4.30am in late June) and sets late in the evening (as late as 9.45pm in the 2nd part of the month).

June tends to be one of the drier months in London with more sunshine. However the weather in London is always unpredicatable. Rain is still possible (even likely!). It’s a good idea to carry an umbrella or a light waterproof jacket, just in case.

June can have multiple days of high temperatures where temperatures can hit the early 30°Cs. There can also be days of cooler weather where rain is frequent. Or you may get a sunny warm day with the occasional shower.
